Astrogeddon Support - Version 1.62
Most problems can be solved as follows:
  1. Very Important: make sure you have the latest version of Microsoft DirectX (currently 10).

  2. Check you have a 3D video card as the game won't run without one (even a cheap $40 card may be okay).

  3. Check for program updates (you currently have version 1.62 installed).

  4. If Astrogeddon fails to start at all, or if you are getting problems that are clearly related to graphics, try downloading the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacturer's website.

  5. If you are having sound problems, first check you are still hearing sound from other Windows programs and also that you haven't turned down the volume on the game's Options Menu. Then try downloading the latest drivers for your sound card from the manufacturer's website.

  6. If the game is running slowly, reduce the detail level via the Options/Graphics menu.

  7. Try running Windows Update. You should also check your PC is free from viruses and spyware.

  8. Try re-starting your PC immediately before running Astrogeddon. If the problem disappears, it is likely some other program you were running beforehand was failing to tidy up after itself properly.

  9. Try disabling as many background programs as possible in case they are conflicting with Astrogeddon (eg. wall-paper programs, screen-savers, email checkers).

  10. If the picture is distorted, or if the graphics appear too dark or too washed out, try adjusting your monitor controls (look for buttons at the front or back of your monitor).

  11. As a last resort, try uninstalling and then re-installing the game.
Still Stuck?
If you've also checked our on-line support page at www.ortsoftware.com and you're still stuck, please email us with a full description of your problem.

If possible, attach a copy of the file AGLOG.TXT - this is a logfile which records the program's progress so it may help to pinpoint where things are going wrong. The logfile is reset each time the game is run, so make sure you take a copy IMMEDIATELY after the problem occurs.

You can find AGLOG.TXT in the game's data folder. If you are using Windows XP or earlier, this will be the same as where you installed the game - usually:

C:\Program Files\Astrogeddon

In Windows Vista or later, find the folder by typing the following into the address field of Windows Explorer:

%PROGRAMDATA%\ORT Software\Astrogeddon
